My mom remembers me chuckling away reading Gordon Korman books when I was a girl. Man, did I ever love Bruno and Boots, and want to go to boarding school! I was at a book fair for my son recently and came across Ungifted, and purchased it myself. Wouldn’t you know, there I was chuckling away while reading. This lead me to purchasing the entire Bruno and Boots set, along with other childhood favorites – Son of Interflux, A Semester In the Life of a Garbage Bag, and Don’t Care High. It’s like a trip down memory lane, getting re-introduced to these wonderful characters, and I am enjoying the books just as much as an adult as I did as a kid. These books are now a full generation old, and what’s amazing is how they don’t date themselves. They could be set in present-day… while technology advances, music evolves, and pop culture shifts, the elements of tween and teen life that Korman portrays are timeless. I can’t wait to pass these books on to my two sons!!
