Congratulations on finishing your book! I know what an amazing feeling that can be.

Your request: All those years ago, I prepared my manuscript, 8-1/2″x 11″, white paper, one side of the page only, pages numbered, wrote a covering letter, telling about myself and giving a short synopsis of my book. I sent it to Scholastic Canada, they read it, liked it, and published it, which was the beginning of my long career. But times change, and companies get a lot bigger. The thing is that I don’t know if they will even read manuscripts that come unsolicited and without an agent any longer. I think you ought to contact them by phone or email and just plain ask.

So, as you see, I can tell you how to prepare your work (no typos, please, and excellent grammar is a MUST!) But I’m really not a good source for how things work today. Sorry.
