Hi, KG,

It’s possible that I write about boys because I happen to be one, and I feel I understand their motivations better. But there are also plenty of girls with strong characters in my books, and not just Shoshanna Weber.

THE TOILET PAPER TIGERS is about a girl coaching a boys’ baseball team. LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE is a juvenile about a girl. ISLAND, EVEREST, DIVE, and the SWINDLE and MASTERMINDS series are about teams of kids, and the girls are strong characters with large roles. I did 5 books for THE 39 CLUES, and Amy Cahill is the main character in all of them. And in my newest, NOTORIOUS, a boy and girl share the lead and are a team.

So I’m not really 100% boy-centric, if I might make up a word. But am I more comfortable writing about boys? Yes.

OK? Thanks for your interest, KG.                                           —–Gordon Korman—–
