Hi, Anne,
Wrong. And wrong. It was an amazing process. The person in charge at Scholastic got a group together, including Rick Riordan, author of the first book in the series. They worked out a story arc that took place over 10 books, which was the first series. Rick wrote the first one, and his manuscript was handed over to me so that I could plan Book 2. But it had to start in Paris, where Rick’s book left off, and continue on to the next Cahill relative, Mozart in Austria. When my story was over, I left it in Italy for the next author, Peter Lerangis, to take to Russia, and so on. I got in again to do Book 8, in China. So we wrote our own stuff, but within the framework of the original plan. Clever? It was a lot of fun, too.
