Hi, Ms. Logsdon & Students,

Wow! This is my first message from Saudi Arabia! Thanks for posting! I’m pleased to hear that my books went over so well with the class. I’ve written a lot of books, so I hope some of you will plan to read on.

Your questions: Most authors don’t require what you call “inspiration.” We write because we have something to say, a story to tell. That’s just about all it takes to start us scribbling. The characters are fictional, which means I made them all up. But most of you probably know people who are somewhat like them — the kids who don’t seem to “fit in”  for reasons that are not really their fault. All they really need is a little added attention from a special teacher like Mr. Kermit.
