Hi, Aliyah,

You’re part of the RESTART class, right? I’ll try to get to all your questions:

1. Names are the easiest part. Everybody gets one. If you’re still stumped, check your newspaper, or any book, or your phone directory, and take your pick.   2. Same for the school. They all have names, or local prominent people that they’re named for. Or street names that they use. Naming is super-easy.   3. I never have writer’s block. That’s because I plan in detail before I start to write. I might stall a bit in paces when I’m planning, but I never block when I’m doing the actual writing.   4. I’m not sure when the plot for RESTART came to me. I wanted to write about bullying, and second chances, and this is what I came up with. I’m pleased that it turned out to be so popular.   5. Writing is my profession, Aliyah. I write because it’s what I do for a living. As of next year, I will have written and published 100 books! And I’ve enjoyed writing every single one of them.

OK? I hope that’s covered everything you wanted to know. Thanks again!         —–Gordon Korman—–
