Hi, Jamaal,

Man, does your class ever have a lot of questions! Here goes:

1. Creating books is my profession. I do it for a living.   2. Good question! I planned the book for about 3 weeks, but I’ve been wanting to write a book on bullying for several years now.   3. I didn’t really want to become a writer. I was just trying to pass 7th grade English when I wrote the story that turned me into an author!  4. My thoughts about RESTART are all positive ones. I’m very proud of the impression my book has made on middle grade kids, and very pleased with its success and the prizes it has won.   5. You ask this as though you can’t imagine anyone enjoying writing! I don’t write because it’s fun or cool. But I do enjoy it, which is great, because it’s my work, and it’s always great to enjoy what you do. It’s hard to describe the feeling I get when I receive the first published copy of a book that I wrote. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.

OK? Thanks for your interest, Jamaal.                                                      —–Gordon Korman—–
