Thanks for posting. I can explain away your confusion:

MIXED UP is science-fiction, and strictly made up. In the story, Reef and Theo were infants together in an incubator when the unit was struck by lightning in an electrical storm that hit the hospital. That is what forged the strange connection between them, and is the reason why they were tryingto recreate the same conditions. But it was fictional, which means I  wrote that it only happened to the two of them, not any of the other kids. Things like switching memories don’t really happen, thank goodness!
