- Book club logistics: I really like the chapter-by-chapter review format (especially with a multiple narrator story) and the chapter-a-day pace seems neither overly aggressive for slower readers nor uncomfortably slow for speed readers. That said, if someone else has another suggestion, I’m in for anything.
As for timing, it’s probably a compromise between fans who can preorder the new book (let’s start RIGHT NOW!) and fans who have to save up to purchase the book or wait for a library loan (hey, guys, wait up!).
- My prediction before it starts: Slugfest will draw comparisons to I Want to Go Home! and will serve as a tool for comparing how much an author’s writing style can develop over four decades. (I have not read anything except the publisher’s blurb, so I’m basing this prediction entirely on the premise of a star athlete being stuck in a place he doesn’t want to be during summer break.)
