@Asher: Note on highschoolers not respecting kids that much younger than them: I think it’s pretty realistic. Highschoolers definitely respect 8th graders on JV teams, it’s really impressive. And just that; he’s on JV, not Varsity, so he’s only on there with majority 9th graders and some 10th graders or the flip-flop of that. Maybe I’m just the exception because I don’t see age when talking to a person, but I doubt that high schoolers wouldn’t respect Yash. At least, the 9th graders he talks to. The 10th graders may or may not and the 11th and 12th probably don’t know he exists. If they do, they don’t care (not until he makes Varsity.)

There was a girl from 8th grade on the JV Volleyball team last year. She was really good, so we all respected her.

People most definitely aren’t going to like Yash, but that’s because they’re jealous that he’s good, not because they don’t like that he’s an 8th grader.

However, I’ve gone to a private Christian school for MS and HS. I don’t know if that makes a difference in how HS act/think, but yeah. Maybe take it with a grain of salt?

Be blessed
