Hi, Hafsa,

You’re talking about one of the Noah Youkilis books, right? UNGIFTED or SUPERGIFTED? I can’t recall which one.

Noah said that towards the end of the book. What he meant was that he was never going to have any challenge from school lessons or exams — he was a genius, right? No matter how hard the work was, he was going to be able to do it. His problem was going to come from trying to live his life as a normal person. There was a lot of ordinary life he just didn’t get.

I wrote it because it was a conclusion that he had to come to — that he was always going to be book-smart, but not life-smart.

As for “Davoun,” I don’t recall any character in the book by that name. Sorry. But I hope I’ve cleared up the quotation for you.

                                 Regards,                                                              —–Gordon Korman—–
