Hi,
Thanks for posting. Congratulatons on your book.
What an author does with a finished book, typed, double-spaced, one side of the page only, is send it to a publisher. You can get a list of publishers from a library book called Writers’ Markets. It lists all the publishing companies, including whether or not they accept manuscripts that come from the author rather than an agent. I didn’t have an agent when I started, but I have one now. To make a long story short, if the publisher likes your book, they will buy the rights from you and do whatever it takes (cover art, editing) to publish it, paying you a percentage of the price they charge for the book. Conversely, if they don’t like it, you should provide return postage and a self-addressed envelope for the return of your manuscript.
I have the feeling you’re asking about self-publishing. I’m afraid I know nothing about it, how to access it, or what it might cost. I have never self-published, and I have 104 books out there in the world. I would guess that it involves finding a company that does that sort of thing, and finding out what it will cost for publication and all that it entails, including editing, cover art, and distribution of the finished product.
Have I been very boring? I hope some of this has been helpful too. Good luck!
