I did look, and yes, it’s true that Waldo wasn’t in print until 1987. But my copy of SON OF INTERFLUX clearly says it was copyrighted in 1988. That means it was purchased by the publisher from me in 1988, and had to go through editing, rewriting, etc. before being published and distributed. That makes Waldo appear in ’87, and “Interflux probably never saw print until ’89.
Hey, when you think about it, how would I even know about Waldo if my book was written a year before he even existed?
