Hello Mr. Korman
I have been a fan since the 6th grade. My life prior to, had been centered on television and, of course, the natural phenomenon that is an ordinary childhood of exercise through play. I thought reading was a waste of time, and I claimed, ‘why read when you can watch,’ for as long as I could remember up to that point in my life.
But elementary school ended, and reading became a requirement. My competitive nature and complete repulsion of failure lured me to the library. For weeks I picked up book after book, reading what I thought to be the main points and took the tests. I became complacent and my theory that reading was irrelevant in all forms only strengthened.
I’d found a group of books in the back of the library that were easy to pass, and was there to get a new one. The book I chose that day was the second in a series that would become my favorite series of all time. “One False Note.” It was so thin I thought nothing of it. I took it home and didn’t touch it for days, and when it came time to take the test the questions were the same comprehensions as always, I just had to go where the question asked and find the answer among all those words. At first I saw the same swirling incomprehensive garble as usual, but somehow, it I felt like I could see the story. I saw it in the pages, and was transfixed; it felt like I wasn’t only reading, but watching. Before I new it time was up and I didn’t finish the test.
I took the book home and read it, and to my surprise, and your credit, it was amazing. I can remember wanting to know what happened after, before. It was weird, but I felt a shift inside me; I went crazy waiting for the first book and read the ones I’d already started reading over again after I got it.
That was six years ago. Today, I am a proud owner of every one of the 39 Clues books, including the ‘secret files,’ and the newest book, “Outbreak.” It looks like a single, but I’m hoping for a series.
I want thank you for putting me on this path, because I treasure every book in personal library and look forward to expanding it. You are without a doubt my favorite author, and I look forward to your next book.
