Thanks for posting. Good question. By the time it came to separating the characters, I also had Book #3 all planned out, and that included a plan for pairing off the kids. Malik didn’t need level-headed Tori with him; I gave him hot-headed Amber so that their journey could be wild and woolly. Tori and Eli were kind of already a couple — or, at least, she thought so. So it was natural to keep them together. Their journey was full of adventure too, but a more planned-out kind rather than living by the seat of their pants. Let me tell you, it was fun to write! I’m really nostalgic about that series. I miss it a lot.
