Hi, Jyllian,
Thanks for posting. I’m pleased to be part of your school project.
Your questions: My writing REALLY changed as a result of technology. When I started, I was writing in longhand and transcribing it by typewriter, and a portable typewriter, at that! Now I do everything on a computer, including my editing and rewriting. What a blessing!
Changes, as I grew up ( don’t forget I’ve been doing this since I was 12!) like getting married and becoming a Dad to 3 kids, watching them grow — all these things mature a person and show up in his/her narrative. I think I write with more feeling, more heart, and more attention to the trials and tribulations, and the rewards, of growing up. At least, I hope I do. You have only to read one of the early books, like THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL and compare it to my latest, RESTART, to see the difference.
When I got the first one published, it was my parents who helped me pursue the dream. (And they would tell you it was my own stubbornness, my determination to be a writer or to be nothing, that led to my success. Pure “cussedness,” they call it.)
OK? I hope that helps. If there;s anything else, you know where to find me — right here on The Forum.
Best regards,
