Chapter Twenty-six
Another chapter, another “Wait, did that really just happen?!?” moment. Carter crashes the drone into the Zippy van? While it’s being driven?!?
But his luck may finally be turning. Lacey! Officer Pickett!
And then the reminder that he still has to face Mrs. Peregrine. (When Pickett says, “She’s pretty upset.”—that’s like labeling the crown of England with a sign saying “Hat.”)
We’re so close—just one chapter left. At this point, most of the book’s big mysteries have been answered. Now let’s see if Carter can stick the landing with two legs in casts.

@Owen, I agree—I thought Carter should’ve manned up and answered when Mr. Grimes knocked at his door. But of course he thought Mr. Grimes was really there to confront him about the drone and the endangered animals, so maybe better safe than sorry. You should absolutely read OUR MAN WESTON. It’s sort of a middle grade novel version of the Pink Panther movies. GRK was doing spy fiction for middle grade long before the current boom in middle grade espionage series.
