Hi, Emily,

Thanks for posting. I’ll try to answer all your questions about WHATSHISFACE.

Cooper moves around a lot because his father is in the military, and he is regularly transferred to different bases, so the family has to move. Roddy’s appearance is the fantasy content of the book. He is a ghost who lived and died back in the 16th century. The kids are not very welcoming to newcomers, and don’t really bother to get to know the new kid. Why does Cooper have a crush on Jolie? That’s a question no one really should be asking. Why one person is attracted to someone is not answerable. It’s just human nature.  How did I make the book so interesting? I don’t know — I’m just glad you found it interesting! Thank you! Why Roddy is just in Cooper’s phone is just the method I used to make the story about Cooper. I put Roddy there. Cooper is very jealous that he got a 1-line part, and Brock gets to play opposite Jolie. Romeo and Juliet are lovers.

OK? If there’s anything else, you know where to find me (right here!) Thanks again.    —–Gordon Korman—–
