Hi again, mh,
Lots of questions, and I’m SURE you already know all the answers! 1. It’s fine to plan your book to be part of a series. But it’s sensible to write the first one first and see how that comes out. Your publisher, and even you, might not want more of the same. 2. I’m afraid I can’t tell you how to add comedy. It has to come from you, and it has to fit with the story. e.g. RESTART was a serious book, but Brendan Espinoza’s “Leaf Man” fit very well into it. There’s no set rule. You just have to find it — and if you’re writing, incidentally, it should have been planned before the writing started. 3. As you write, the things a character says, the thoughts he has, and the way he rethinks his previous ideas will show how he is growing from his experiences. 4. Other advice? Stick to it! It sounds like it’s going OK. It’s hard work — bet you thought it was easy until you tried it!
At the end of WhatsHisFace, Roddy disappears forever, because the wrong has been addressed. He has been given credit (sort of) for “Romeo & Juliet.” He can now rest in peace. And the phone can be just a phone.
OK? Have fun, mh. —–GK—–
