Hi Ms. Ganka-Collins & Clear Creek Book Club!

Thanks for posting. I’m pleased to hear that you’re all reading RESTART, I hope it’s going over well with the club.

I would love to be able to tell you that I agonized over sessions with psychiatrists, etc. The fact is that I researched amnesia through the Internet. The most interesting thing about it is that it’s highly selective. Chase could just as easily have forgotten language and motor skills and have to learn to talk and walk all over again. It’s believed (but not proven) that a subject like Chase forgot most of the things he subconsciously disliked and regretted about his life, like aggressive behavior and bullying. That’s why his amnesia was only about those things, but spared him any really difficult recovery. I also learned that sometimes memory never comes back. For my character, though, ****SPOILER ALERT**** permanent amnesia didn’t work for the story. He had to remember eventually.

OK? Hope that adds a little to the ambience . And I hope you win me! That would be great!
