Hi, AJ,

Good question, peculiar answer. In 7th grade English, we all had to write what our teacher called “a novelette.” He meant a longer story, one that didn’t end after the first page. I got started writing, and really got carried away with my story — I ended up with more than 100 pages! My Mom typed it and we sent it to a publishing company. They liked it and bought the rights to it, and I became a published author at age 12. So to answer your question, before I knew I wanted to become an author, I already was one. It just developed from there.

As for books to make it through college, I can’t know your age, your courses, or what kind of books you might need. Sorry. That has to come when college comes, OK?

                                  Best regards,                                                     —–Gordon Korman—–
