Thanks for posting and for your interest.

Your questions:  1. RESTART is 100% fiction, which means I made it all up, including the characters.

2. I came up with the character from the same place I get all my characters, settings, and stories — from a lot of thinking and plotting. No big mystery. It’s just a lot of work, and it’s what I do for a living.

3. Why did I write it? For the same reason other people go to their offices, or stores, or other places where they work. Writing books for middle schoolers is my job. 

4. RESTART is definitely not my first book. As a matter of fact, it’s my 96th.

5. I don’t know if this is the best book I ever wrote, but I think it qualifies as the most popular. It went back onto the New York Times Bestseller list just this week again!
