Hi, Jaggar,

Thanks for posting and for being such a big fan of my work.

The first step to becoming a writer is the one you just took: you’ve decided that’s what you want to do. Step Two is to write — every day, all the time. Blogs, diaries, letters, short stories — anything that keeps you writing and helps you develop a fluency with the use of language. Step Three is equally important — it’s asking yourself if you really do have something to say, a story to tell. No one can help you there. It has to come from you. And Step Four is the actual act of writing a book. You should never write a single word until your story is well-planned. Yes, you can make changes, you can add and subtract people and events. But the basic story — the ending you’re writing towards — must be there before you start.

Ultimately, writing is a solitary business, done mostly alone. I wish you loads of success if writing is what you truly want.
