I’m confused. When I decided to contact you, it was in order to ask you how my very favorite children’s book author could have written a book like Saving  Joe’s Place, which I had just finished reading.  I’m Jewish, and found the portrayal of the deli’s owner to be stereotyping of the worst sort, almost bordering on antisemitism.  But then I read Linked, which does an excellent job explaining antisemitism in such a sympathetic way. That left me confused.  And now I read that you are actually Jewish yourself?  I guess that actually should make me feel better, because making fun of yourself is definitely not as hateful as making fun of a group of historically oppressed people of which you are not part. I mean, the Jewish comedians do it all the time. So maybe it could even be considered funny? I don’t know.  But I certainly like your other books better.
