Hi Gordon and Raymond,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and clearing up the mystery. My 1994 letter definitely reads ‘Bruno & Boots Meet the Phantom’ which you said you’d just finished (when you were only up to book 19!), so it would make sense if it became ‘Something Fishy at Macdonald Hall (published in 1995). I can’t believe there’s a whole other Bruno and Boots book we’re completely missing from our collection; and you’ve written another 81 books since then!
As for Remembering Buddy, I prefer that title as well. It’s interesting how our memories change with time, awareness and life experience though. In your original letter you would tell ‘me absolutely nothing’ about the book, except that you thought it was ‘probably your ‘best piece of work’. If that was the case, the final product must have been REALLY good, we look forward to reading it.
Speaking of which we were hoping for some advice. Our Gordon Korman collection pretty much stops at around the point you started to branch into your adventure series. We have all the old classics, our favourites being ‘The War With Mr. Wizzle’ (the original version!), ‘No Coins Please’, ‘Our Man Weston’, ‘I Want to Go Home’, ‘Who is Bugs Potter?’, ‘Losing Joe’s Place’, the MacDonald Hall series, and my all time favourite, ‘A Semester in the Life of a Garbage Bag (yes I’m talking about you Raymond!)’. Obviously we’re keen to add to our collection and it would be great if you could advise which of your newer works were most in keeping with these.
Also Hamish would like to know, which is your favourite book of all time that you’ve written.
And finally, I would like to know if Gavin Gunhold still makes an appearance from time to time?
Thanks again for everything,
Janine and Hamish
p.s. Just to let you know how inspiring your books were/are, I ended up spending a year in America as a high school exchange student, and later spent 2 years working in Montreal – which is a goodly hike from Melbourne, Australia. My daughter is now talking about doing the same!
