Hi again, Danah,
The website is where I deal with my mail from now on, OK?
Your questions:
It took about 6 or 7 months to complete SLACKER, and probably another few weeks for a short rewrite. I write multiple genres, but basically Middle Grade novels. My first book was called THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING AT MCDONALD HALL. Most authors don’t require what you call “inspiration,” Danah. We write because we have something we want to say, a story to tell. That’s all it takes to start us scribbling. My bestselling book is a middle grade novel called RESTART. Sorry, but I’m not a cryer, at least not in my reading. My favorite author is an American novelist named Kurt Vonnegut. I was 12 when I started to write, so I guess if I went back in time, I wouldn’t have much advice to give my younger self, right?
Hope that covers what you wanted to know. Thanks again for your interest. —–Gordon Korman—–
