Yay! A response! I’d been checking for two days! But yeah, sorry for the tiny little review: here’s my big one from when I first read the book.
@Raymond You are not getting the last word. So, yay!
Oh my gosh, FINALLY! I’d been DYING to talk about the book but there was the no spoilers rule so I couldn’t really say anything, but first things first:
Thank y’all all so much. It’s been such a blessing to dive into this story with y’all. You all have no idea how awesome you have made this. Raymond, Shaleen, Asher, y’all are the reason this book discussion has been so awesome. You have any idea how exciting it is to see other people’s opinions on a book you love on a day to day basis? I know I was a bit of a slacker, but please excuse that because I lost my book and I nearly got schooled.
But, thankfully, for the past few days I’ve been nearly unplugged- but not enough to unplug from the Forum. The GUESSES YALL MADE! Asher, Raymond, Shaleen? Absolute MASTERMINDS. Like, how did you come up with that stuff that was true? I never woulda guessed it.
(Intermission: Moving this message to Docs so it doesn’t get lost; the Forum is notorious for deleting perfectly long messages. Plus, I don’t wanna get mixed-up–a lot of things are linked here!
So many parts of the book were awesome. Like, when Yash, Amir, and whatshisface–Hammond, almost broke up their friendship? All because Yash couldn’t hold the fort because of some stupid law technicality? AWESOME.
It was a bit of an operation do-over with all of those kids in P.E.E. and that was just lame for all of them. I was surprised I was sympathetic with all of the nerds there! (Because i’m totally not a nerd… at all…)
But in the first chapter, with Yash, this supergifted extraordinaire that’s just amazing at every sport–GETTING HELD BACK?? So funny.
Okay, i need to stop with the book references, it’s an absolute zoobreak. Am I even talking about the book anymore?
But anyways, Yash really had to beware the fish called Nitro Nate–an awesome, super skilled, and super nice jock that happened to be from the wrong town. I feel like Nate was literally born to rock his world.
The fall from the top and the climb back up has been so fun to watch, especially with Yash bringing all of his new friends along without forgetting his own buddies. No matter how much the world tried to drown him, he was unsinkable–another reason why i love Yash.
Like, c’mon. He literally taught the unteachables how to play football–and enough to win the tournament. Kaden was probably the most ungifted athlete to ever ath and Yash still pulled him into something amazing.
But, restart. Lemme stop talking about the plot–we did that–and lemme get to the parts I thought were notable.
Yash is such a showoff. But he’s a nice showoff, and that makes me love him. Could anyone really compete with him when he was unleashed into the field, court, or [insert sport place]?
ARABELLA. The way she had to be public enemies with her cute little boyfriend, Nitro Nate. The way she loved justice and being honest when that whole relationship she was a liar, liar, whose pants would be on fire. Such a faker–but so good too!
Especially when she was rushing to expose Coach F. That lil girl really had the need for speed (too bad she didnt have her boyfriend… yet) yet she still pulled it together. Then was crushed by Yash (oof.)
Okay, i’m out of puns.
Be blessed,
Jade
