Thanks for posting. Good question. The series started in 2005 with CHASING THE FALCONERS. I honestly don’t recall what I did, if anything, with Miguel. I think my basic idea was that the kid was guilty and was serving out his term — Aiden and Meg were innocent, remember, so they weren’t really in prison, but had no other place to go.

You’re right. If I had it to do over, I would free Miguel in the care of the Falconer family, because his own family wanted nothing to do with him. Agent Harris would have been helpful in this regard.
