I am also pretty late with my thoughts, but I just read chapter one after not reading this book since early 2022.

I mostly forgot most of it, not because it was unforgettable, just because I have a bad memory and it has been a while.

Anyways, starting on the cover I have always been intrigued. I have no idea what the glasses mean and don’t have an educated guess either. I have always loved the simple but effective font.

This is a great intro to the book, I thought I wouldn’t be able to be pulled in for a second time, but again Gordon Korman never disappoints. It can hook you in and make you think of some questions.

Some of mine: Why does the relationship with Chase and his dad feel different from Johnny and his dad?

Why is Helene so scared?
Why does Corrine seem in such a hurry to go?

Another thing that interests me is the ages. In every book I love to think about, if unsaid, the ages of characters.

More specifically, I wonder what range Johnny and Corrine are around.

I really like how the accident is dealt with. I always feel it so intriguing; Something huge and painfully drastic happens to you and it feels like a second away sitting in the hospital. In chases case, not knowing why he is in there.

That is all I have to say. I have to agree about the dynamics, very interesting so far.
