Hi guys!
So, for an idea of a sequel or prequel. Actually, I was thinking along the lines of another book that follows Logan and his family’s journey up to getting to meet Trey. It would be called “COPYCAT” and be about Logan and his family; how they got into the business, why they stayed in it, and how it was going. I think it would dive more into why the parents chose to be a part of it. It would reveal a lot of aspects about why he was the “class clown” yet with this thing tugging at him. It’d be similar to Trey except he could never get his parents to “quit”.
Unlike FAKER, it would definitely delve into how the FBI had been chasing Logan’s family. He would know lots about being on the run constantly and it would highlight the difference between the two families with Logan’s having to transport paintings all of the time.
I imagine that the business would be much bigger. COPYCAT would be set in many different countries if possible and be a bit like a race against the clock to escape the FBI/CIA/MI6. Have you guys read the series “I.Q.”? Sort of similar in that way. It would definitely have more action and Logan would be in on some of the conniving schemes just like Trey. His involvement would be more and once again, they would mainly scam people who were filthy rich. But I also imagine that not only from making/using fake art, they would also steal real art to get counterfeits. Overall, the family would be a much bigger monster than Junior & Trey.
To add more stakes, they would have had too much on the line to actually “quit”. People were watching them, people were onto them, and they were in cahoots with the rest of the family in the faux art business as well as having threats to their lives and identities to keep doing it. All the while, Logan wishes to escape. But he wants to save his parents, too. However, the business is just a beast much bigger than he had ever expected so as he tries to escape, he finds himself tied into the spiderweb, realizing that his parents (seemingly unloving and greedy) were actually trying to protect him. The phrase on the front would be “Look beyond the surface.”, “Things aren’t always as they seem.”, or “Appearances can be deceiving.”
It could be two books, the first before “FAKER”, the second after “FAKER.”
I think we all have some pretty good ideas!
Raymond, I think we are thinking similar ideas! And I totally agree that Logan can write a cool story with those ideas. Ethan, I think it was way too short too!
Be blessed,
Jade
