Okay, I did my reviews like I said I would! Sorry I nearly missed two days!
Chapter 2:
-
I like the focus on Mike this time! He’s going to be a really interesting character.
-
Rudy’s kind of a jerk, just a little bit. I love it on him! He’s so funny and I agree, Alcatraz is very fitting. I also thought that when I first saw Mr. Warden’s name.
-
It’s a sweet detail that the guy thought the kids were laughing for him, not at him. Instead of being offended or upset. That made me happy.
-
I like how happy-go-lucky everybody else is. Mike and Rudy stick out like two sore thumbs, but they’re made for each other. They’re both going to suffer!
-
Ooh, action already! Rudy wants to block up the camp and get everybody sent home (without anybody getting hurt) I see a plot a-brewin’!
-
It’s pretty simple but the build up is starting. Excellent!
-
Also, you wrote this at 15? Crazy. That’s so crazy, that’s younger than me. What a prodigy.
-
It sounds really different from RESTART but that makes total since, since they’re like, 30 years apart!
-
-
Dude! What Asher said! I would love to see a rewrite of this, of Rudy Miller, but in Gord’s recent style! That would be so epic! I would love to get inside of Rudy’s head!
-
Rudy is rooting to escape Camp Alcatraz!
@Raymond: You’re just too good. I’m not as encyclopediac as you… amazing. I too enjoy their budding friendship and it makes me happy. I liked the detail of them shaking hands… very professional. If it were my brother or my dad when they were this age, they probably would have just slapped the other guy or something. That motion when the guys either smirk, laugh, or look stoic and then they slap the other boy’s back.
Mike laughing made me laugh! I so understand not being able to hold it in! That scene was so cute and his laughter was contagious! It’s going to continue to spill throughout the pages. “Innocent bystander” is one way to describe Webster.
I didn’t think Rudy was joking. I still laughed. I talked about setting my after-school care on fire multiple times. Would have never done it, but sometimes, I despised it!
Yep, Rudy’s the man for man-made natural disasters! Yeah, IWTGH is really funny!
Chapter 3:
-
“Why do you immediately assume I’m guilty?” “Well-did you do it?” “Yes”
-
No hesitation! Oh my goodness, already got me.
-
-
Uh oh, Mike’s getting mean. Rudy’s a bad influence…
-
I love how dramatic he is. Basically, the world is over. But it’s fine.
-
What quicksand?!
-
The lies!!! Rudy, please! LOL
-
“I never wanted to kill anybody–until now!” Oh, Chip. Precious Chip. Slowly, Rudy chips away at his sanity. I don’t think anything will be left of him except for a chip of his morality. He really will become an axe-murderer!
-
“I’ll kill you!” Rudy, you’re BREAKING him!
-
“It doesn’t have to be raining to be raining.”
-
So profound. So profound. Have I ever heard something more enlightening in my life? Probably not. Thank you, Master Rudy.
-
-
Arts and Crafts? I’m surprised that’s not too “girly” an excuse for them.
-
Building a dam is crafty! It’s civil engineering!
-
“How did you know?” Mike, be quiet! If you weren’t so silly that Chip thought you were teasing, y’all would have been busted a long time ago!
-
How come Chip can’t make them do anything? I imagine if I were in camp, they would just make me run laps and do exercises on the spot if I didn’t behave.
-
I love Mike’s sass. This is what I heard:
-
“Yes, we’re just going to walk away. Just walk home. On the water, of course, since this is an island. But Jesus says we should act like him, and he could walk on water, so…”
-
-
First try-fail cycle! They tried to make a dam, realized it wouldn’t work, and got a new plan!
-
Okay, Chip doesn’t like them. And doesn’t know where they were. Guys, he’s on your tail!
@Raymond: He’ll tell a story but he won’t lie! Since he ditched the idea so quickly, does this mean they’ll ever stick to one thing? I feel bad for Chip! (But not really, the boys are funny.)
Chapter 4:
-
I’m not sure how 200 miles translated into 10 or 15 minutes, but cool!
-
“That was awful!” Mike, be quiet. That was cool. Why so dramatic? And Rudy, please! “At least we weren’t fired on” LOL!!
-
What is a bailing bucket? What are these strange terms? Are they Canadian words? Are they boy words? Was the officer really just going to let them off if they had it, at the ripe age of what? 13? So much freedom…
-
Huh, Rudy’s kinda creative! A bit of an artist, is he? With the symbolism and the painting?
-
He despises the boys now! Also, since they’re Mike and Rudy, I’m just going to call them Moody. M-udy. They work as a unit.
-
Chip is trying to catch Moody… hehehe!
-
“I’m a pacifist,” he says as he takes every opportunity to destroy Harold’s property
-
Lol! Chip doesn’t like Harold either, if he’s constantly telling him to shut up!
-
How old are they? Chip feels like he’s 25 but also like he’s 17.
-
-
1. I thought Adam died! A mattress fell on his head! Imagine the letter:
-
“Dear mummy, when I woke up, there was a mattress on my head! Save me!”
-
-
It’s crazy to me how boys will just have a pillow/everything-in-the-vicinity fight after that. If I were there, me and some girls I know would be shocked and squeal and cry about it. So interesting!
-
Please! The invite to the pillow fight?! I can’t!
-
The Pacifist Pillow Fight
-
Okay, there’s a beaver. SLACKER, anyone? LEVEL 13? Odd transition, but cool!
I liked this chapter, more action, more fun!
Be blessed,
Jade
