Fan since the 70s

I’ve been a fan since the 70s, my 70s that is. As of next month, I’ll be 16 years short of four score and seven years, and I just discovered your books. It started with The Fort, which was in the “recommended” section of my library, quickly followed by Ungifted, which I think is a work of genius. Really. It’s a great book — smart, funny, relatable, really well-written, and tremendously entertaining. It’s like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (McMurphy’s affect on the patients) meets Help, I’m Being Held Prisoner by Donald Westlake (the humor and pranks), uniquely packaged in a middle school kinda way. I already have a couple of your other titles on hold, which I’ll read in favor of more adult fare when they arrive.

Am I your oldest fan, or are there other overly ripe readers who are posting fan notes here? I’ve written and illustrated some books for Scholastic myself, but not for years and a mere spitball compared to the heap of titles you’ve created seemingly at will. Thank you, congratulations on your 100th book — and keep it up!
