Question about Aaron and Bear

While writing the characters Aaron and Bear in Restart, did you ever think that they actually cared for Chase as a person and a friend rather than someone who let them have fun? Like, when thinking of their characters, did you ever imagine them to actually care about him when he was in the hospital, etc? 

(Sorry I keep posting, I’m just so eager to talk about books, I’ll try to hold back)
