Hi Gordon!

I'm very excited to read Old School and I can't wait for Snoop to come out! It's been a goal of mine to read all of your books since I was 13 and I've almost completed that goal. While reading your books, I would always draw what I imagine the characters would look like - even illustrating moments in the book. Half my math papers were covered with drawings of Chase, Link, Theo, and Reef by the end of the school year! This gave me the question: would you ever consider someone adapting your books into graphic novels? I love how many fun and unique characters your books have and I think it would be super cool to have a visual representation of them. If so, I have so many ideas!

By the way, my grandmother told me that when she was working as a school librarian, you were one of the young authors who came to her school. Do you ever remember going to South Bend, Indiana?

Re: your question. I already have one graphic novel out. It's from THE 39 CLUES series, called "One False Note." And it's a long process, but the first book in the SWINDLE series is being turned into a graphic novel right now. So yes, I've thought of it! I'm pretty sure there will be more of my work turned into graphics as well.

I must have met your Grandmother at her school, Sadie. And isn't it a very small world? We have that as a connection from before you were born!

My book is finished but how do I get it online pubished

How do you get it online published? I haven't the slightest idea. I think you just put it online. I've never published that way, so I don't know how it's done. But I would guess you just put it out there.

Hey, Timothy. Well, a couple other Forum regulars are young writers with hands-on experience using lots of different writing/publishing tools and apps. Their advice would be better than what I can offer—they may chime in if they see your question—but here’s what I know.

Before you decide on how/where to publish, you want to decide what you’re actually trying to accomplish:

> If you want to share a work-in-progress to get feedback and encouragement from other young writers, you can find several communities designed for students. Young Writers Project and Storybird and Write the World are a few of the big ones.

> If you have a finished story or novel that you’d like to post for free so others can read it, Wattpad is super popular with teens.

> The easiest way to see your book in print (or e-print) is to self-publish on Amazon KDP or Barnes & Noble Press—they both let you create a book that looks “real” (as both an e-book and a print-on-demand book). Don’t count on getting rich off of royalties. But if your book is sensationally good, it could get picked up by a commercial publisher. (It’s much more common for adult books—Andy Weir did it with The Martian and Hugh Howey with the Wool/Silo series—but Christopher Paolini’s self-published Eragon is a middle grade/YA success story, so it’s not impossible.)

> If your real dream is to get a traditional publisher to buy your book: Publishing houses all have different rules for accepting manuscript submissions. GRK has shared good advice several times in the Forum so reading lots of previous posts would be a great place to start.
