MilkyAndTwizI loved Unplugged but from what I read, Vladimir isn’t a really great father. Yes, Jett is a handful and Vladimir does give him food and shelter, but the fact Jett keeps saying that “Vlad loves his costumers and product more than me.” Is kind of thought provoking. The fact Jett uses “Vlad” instead of “Father” makes a lot of sense of why Vladimir could be neglectful, and when Jett tries to talk to his father when he finally gets his phone again, Vladimir just turns him down. What also shocked me is that the opening line for the last chapter of where Jett tells a scenario of his father picking him up from The Oasis, but Jett then cuts it off by telling us it’ll never happen, not even if it’s on the news. Plus, Jett’s stubborn, sarcastic, dry, bratty, sassy, and arrogant attitude could come from neglect. Also not to mention he didn’t have that much friends before the Oasis. This question has been with me for over a year ever since I got the book on October 2024 and finished in four days.

I think you've called it exactly. Jett is apoiled rotten, neglected by his Mom, and also his father, for two different reasons. Mom has other interests, and Dad is a super-busy computer tycoon. BUT Dad cared enough to try to straigten him out, even if he didn't do it himself. He sent Jett with a friend/bodyguard to a place that would help -- maybe. ***SPOILER ALERT*** Who knew it would take one baby alligator and a few friends to do the job?
