[Ms. Emily Proctor]

Dear Gordan Korman,

 

We are a 4th grade class at Discovery Elementary School in Ashburn, Virginia. Our teacher, Ms. Proctor, just finished reading The Unteachables to our class. We loved it! 

 

Here are some examples from students of what we loved about your book:

Drishti- I think it was really thoughtful for Mr. Kermit to help Parker read. 

Gabriel- I love the part where Vladimir escaped from the cage and then he was found in the car.

Ridhvika- I think it was really funny how there were lots of plot twists. Including cars on fire, Mr. Kermit almost getting fired, and a very very very bad superintendent. 

Nathai- When you compared Chauncey and Vladimir it was so funny. If that was a funny video, everyone would watch it!

Viyanna- I like how Parker can drive.

Elsie- I thought it was really funny when they said Elaine rhymes with pain. Also that the sub was called Dawn of the Dead because she is older.

Lucas- I like how Mateo always thought of random names for people.

Tareq- I thought it was hilarious that the 7th graders did circle time.

Malachi- The part when Elaine went into the bathroom when Mateo was being bullied and then everyone afterwards realized that Elaine wasn’t actually scary.

Thalia- When they all jumped into the river after stealing the vuvuzelas.  

Kerrigan- I liked how they called Mr. Kermit “Ribbit”.

Zahrah- I like how at the beginning they were casually roasting marshmallows in the middle of the classroom.

Edoardo- I like at the beginning of the book when Parker drove to school and all of his papers fell out of his bag.

Zafeer- When Mr. Kermit decided to take his car to a shop 4 miles away instead of taking it to Terranova Motors.

Zachary- I thought it was cool that the Coco Nerd was remade with nice tires, a paint job, and an engine.

Stefen- I like how Mr. Kermit was about to get fired, but didn’t in the end!

When is The Unteachables 2 coming out? We demand it!

If you write a second book, can you make Aldo and Kianna the Prom King and Queen?

Why did they use rabbit butts as points in Miss Fountain's class?

Where did you get the idea to write The Unteachables?

On the cover, why is there a frog?

Why did you add the Coco Nerd to the story?

Do you like video games? If so, what is your favorite to play?

LOVED all your comments! And I'll try to answer your questions:

I haven't planned THE UNTEACHABLES 2, but I wouldn't rule it out either, so stay tuned. I think Aldo and Kianna deserve to be King and Queen of the Prom, don't you? Rabbit butts was the impolite way of saying bunny tails. Miss Fountain liked kindergarten-like games. My idea for the story came from plain old hard work and a lot of thinking and plotting. No big mystery; it's just work. And I can't remember why they put a frog on the cover -- I just write the stuff; the publisher designs the covers. I added the Coco Nerd to illustrate what Parker sees when he tries to read the name "Concorde" on the car. That's his learning and reading disability. And sorry, but I'm not too crazy about video games. No time!
