Hi, I am a retired teacher from school district 96 Kildeer Countryside in Buffalo Grove and Long Grove, Illinois. I’ve seen you speak many times at conferences, Kildeer I may have even had you as an author visit in our district. Besides being a teacher in the district, I was also the librarian at Kildeer Countryside elementary school in Buffalo Grove. I just finished reading Linked, so I can share it with my grandson. I got the book through PJ library which send a free book to my grandson every month. I was reading Linked and at the end of the story the kids received about 1000 links to complete their 6 million link chain from an. “elementary school in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.” I wondered why you put that in your book and what was your connection you have to our school district. Thanks for posting.

You know, I'm not sure I remember! It might just have meant that I received a fan letter from a Buffalo Grove reader at that time. Or perhaps I was remembering a visit there and wanted to shout out to Buffalo Grove. I certainly do recall visitng a great school there, so perhaps it was Kildeer. I just can't recall what made me choose that city. Sorry.

I hope you and your grandson enjoyed LINKED.

Thank you for your quick response. I was one of librarians in the district so I probably arranged that visit.

I also just want to thank you for writing the book. My grandson doesn’t know a lot about Judaism. I’m Jewish. His dad is half Jewish. His mother is not. I thought it was a great vehicle to teach him about Judaism, the Holocaust and owning up to your mistakes. I’ve loved many of your books, but this one really stood out.
thank you for writing something so important, especially right now in the world.
