Hailey, staudeDear Gordon Korman, Date: 1-21-25
Hello, my name is Hailey Staude. I am a student from Jefferson middle school.
A little bit about myself is I love being athletic and love playing the sports:Basketball and Soccer. My other thing is I love the color green. It just stands out to me, and there are multiple green things everywhere around the world.
I picked your book Restart, because I thought it would be a great book to read. I saw the glasses on the front cover and that really caught my attention. So, I looked through the book and then at the back blurb. I thought it sounded interesting, so I started to read it. The first few pages caught my eye. Then, I kept reading and I got even more hooked. I enjoyed how it introduced the characters so well and how you described them.
I really enjoy reading your book, Restart. I enjoyed reading about how Chase changed and became nice and kind. And also how Chase transformed into a whole different person after his falling off the roof. I had a connection because of how the book was talking about Chase and his bullies in his grade. I really loved how you brought up bullying and how Chase and his friends were the bullies in their grade.
I had some questions for you. Did you ever have a bully when you were a kid? And was it bad enough there were councilors at your school? And my other question is how did Chase end up after his concussion and injuries from falling off the roof? Including like what happened after mr.solway had a group for all the bullies or even the victims how they are being treated with the mean evil bullies.
Sincerely,
Hailey staude

Thanks for posting. I'm pleased to hear that RESTART made such a strong impression on you. I hope you'll want to read many more of the books on my long list.
Your questions: I was never bullied, although I think everyone knows at least one or two bullying types. And I think the book is pretty clear that Chase remained a good friend and a decent person after his recovery. He would have stuck with the new friends he'd made after his accident. I think his relationship with Shoshanna would have been a good one, and he would have stayed with his new friends. He would also have been a regular visitor to Mr. Solway.
OK? If there's anything else, you know where to find me -- right here!
