Dear Gordon Korman,

 

I read your book, The Superteacher Project, and I really, really liked it. It’s one of my favorite books now. If it were up to me, The Superteacher Project would be a show or a movie or something, because I really like the plot and the characters in it. Some of your other books led me to this one. My brother and I listened to the Harry Potter audiobooks, starting when I was a first grader, and whenever we finished the last one, we’d listen to them all again. But when I was a fifth grader and my brother an eighth grader my mom said I should branch out and try other genres, so we listened to the audiobook of The Unteachables. My brother and I thought it was hilarious, so we read or listened to a whole lot of your other books. 

 

Since then, I’ve gone through Operation Do-Over, The Fort, Restart, Linked, Unplugged, the Masterminds series, Slacker and Level 13, Ungifted and Supergifted–I can’t wait for Hypergifted to come out, Notorious, War Stories, Slugfest, Faker, Snoop, Old School, No More Dead Dogs, Schooled, The Hypnotists, the 6th Grade Nickname Game, Mixed Up, your books and the others in the 39 Clues series, the first book of The Hypnotists, The Chicken Doesn’t Skate, the Twinkie Squad and finally, The Superteacher Project.

 

I have a few questions for you, too:

 

1. Have you ever had an idea for a book but you didn’t write it until years later?

2. What is your favorite book that you have written?

3. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

4. Are any of your characters based on real people?

5. What is one genre that you haven’t explored yet that you would like to in your book, or that you feel like you haven’t explored enough?

 

One time our family was listening to Faker on the car ride home from a trip and we got home with about an hour left of the audiobook. We didn’t have time to finish it, which was a little sad, but later my dad asked me to explain the ending, because he said he just had to know how it ended. My dad isn’t the kind of guy to exaggerate stuff, so I could tell he really liked the book and had to know how it ended, so I explained it to him. My dad also likes how you sometimes reference Star Trek in your books because we watch Star Trek The Next Generation sometimes. 

 

I am also really excited for Sleepless, your next book. It’s kind of an interesting concept, and I was actually thinking about it a few days before I found out about Sleepless. I thought, What would I do if I suddenly didn’t have to sleep and everyone else still did? And it was like, BOOM, three days later I found out about Sleepless. 

 

Anyway, I really like your books and you’re a great author.

Thanks! Your questions:

1. FAKER was one idea I've had for years, and finally got around to writing it.

2. My "favorite" is usually the most recent release, so I guess the current one is HYPERGIFTED, which comes out in a few days.

3. I think I'll pass on the superpower and be satisfied with what I have.

4. My characters are all fictional, and so are all the stories except the TITANIC trilogy, which is based on historical fact.

5. I haven't written an adult book yet. I'm not sure I ever will.
