Hi Gordon! My name is Daniel and I love your reading. In fact I'd like to become an author myself at 13 yrs old.

I'm currently creating a book called belief, where this kid is having trouble in school because of what recently happened with his mother: she died. And now his dad is taking it even worse. And when his dad starts dating again he gets mad, thinking he's replacing her. And she even believes in Christianity: a religion. But once he starts knowing her better he also starts liking the religion better.

I'm wondering what advice you have. I usually struggle with making them both long and entertaining. Do you have any ideas on what I could do to stretch them out?

This reminds me of a poem I read years ago, called "Too Many Daves." Oh well, the more Daniels, the better.

Daniel the writer: I'm not sure your plot is lending itself to being what you describe as "entertaining." I can see the tension and the heartache, but not the entertainment. And the religious angle seems to come out of left field. BUT you have to remember I'm not reading it - NO, do not send it. I never read other people's work.

Your big question is how to stretch out the story. If your premise is long enough, telling the story well will stretch it out automatically. It's up to you to have enough to write about, enough chaacter and enough story. You may be getting to your "next item" because you're anxious to start it. Relax. Don't push it. Timing is something you acquire with practice.
