Hi Gordon. I’ve had some questions I’ve been wanting to ask you, so ill just get started with them.

first of all, how long on average does it take for your books to get published?

second, how long do you think a book chapter should be?

third, is it easy to get a book published?

    thank you,

    -Marco

    Hi, Marco,

Thanks for posting. I'll try to answer your quesions.

How long does publishing take? From the time my manuscript is accepted as ready until I'm holding a new book in my hand can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the publisher's allover publishing schedule. Remember, your book isn't the only one they're publishing at any given time.

How long should a chapter be? Anywhere from 2 pages to 20! It depends how much of the story that chapter is designed to tell. It's like asking how long a book should be -- as long as it takes to tell the whole story.

Is it easy to get a book published? For me, with a track record, yes. For someone new, it's not easy at all. It's hard to get noticed in a world where everyone seems to be working on a book these days! It has to be a great topic, it has to be good, it has to stand out among a lot of books. It's tough competition.

OK? I wish I coud be more encouraging on that third question, but you wanted the truth, right?

Good luck -- I can tell you're thinking about doing some writing!                                   -----Gordon Korman-----
