Dear Mr. Korman,

Hi, I am Emerson. I love your book Restart. I do not usually like reading, but this book changed that for me. It's so inspiring! Especially the story line, because I think it's really creative. My favorite part of your book is when Shoshanna says “are you coming,” when she enters her house. My jaw practically dropped. I also love when Joel comes back to school. I have a couple questions:
- What is your favorite book you have written?
- What's your least favorite book you have written?
- What inspired you to be an author?
- Your favorite part about being an author?
- Your least favorite part of being an author?

Thanks for posting. I'm pleased to hear that RESTART made such a big hit with you. I hope you'll go on to read many more of the books on my long list -- as of last month when HYPERGIFTED came out, there are now 107 titles on it! That sounds like a lot, even to me!

Your questions:

I honestly have no favorite among my books, but I'm usually the most "into" the newest releases, so |I guess HYPERGIFTED is the current "fav." I also like them all, so there is no "least fav." I was inspired to be an author by my 7th gradeEnglish teacher who asked us for what he called "a novelette." I got carried away and wrote over 100 pages of a story that became my first book, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL. So I've been writing ever since I was 12, and that was almost 50 years ago. My favorite part about being an author is traveling to different cities, and also different countries, speaking at schools and libaries, visiting my readers. The least favoite part is proably those same travels, which had me spending a lot of time away from my family. I missed a lot of my kids' growing up years.
