And I like to know how things work, so I did some highly technical cyber wizardry (I used my browser's "inspect" tool) to find out that all of the avatars on this Forum are drawn from a service called Gravatar.

With that knowledge, I went to Gravatar's website, registered my email address to create a free account, and uploaded an image to my profile. (If you don't recognize the pic, it's "Raymond Jardine" from the cover of A SEMESTER IN THE LIFE OF A GARBAGE BAG.) So now, whenever I post a reply on the Forum (and as long as I'm also logged in to my Gravatar account), my profile pic shows up as the one on my account instead of one randomly assigned to me.
