It's not something I'm very familiar with, but I think I understand it. When I was in middle school, there were fictional characters that I felt very close to. I could even imagine myself involved in the stories with them. I don't think it's weird, or even funny. I think it's a regular occurrance in people with vivid imaginations, people who can really get "into" what they're reading.

I am wondering if you have authored any books that speak to impulsive, inappropriate, angry remarks from a kid when treated badly by someone else? I have an high functioning, intelligent autistic grandson lacking impulse control. He responds to others who treat him unkindly with verbal, ugly nastiness. Invariably, he gets in trouble for his coarse responses. He also has struggles with honesty. Perhaps if none of your books address such problems, you might consider one.
Thanks much,
Carolyn

Thanks for posting. I am so sorry to hear of the problems your grandson has had to face throughout his young life.
None of my books deal with the problem as you describe it, and for a very real reason -- the kind of dialogue that would be required to illustrate the situation would be unacceptable in a book aimed at Middle Grade, which is the age group most of my books are aimed at. It is so unfortunate that the very problem the book might attempt to describe prevents it from being published. I don't know if the situation can be tackled in anything but an adult book. Perhaps such literature already exists. I do hope you have some success in your search.

you HAVE to make a second book of the Unteachables. It is my favorite book and I can\'t stop reading it. I know that it is supposed to be a \"solo book\" but I want, no, NEED, the second book. If I had to choose one book to read for the rest of my life, it would be the Unteachables. My mother is always telling me to get another book, but I refuse. I know you published it in 2019, but I need the second one. If you are going to take my request, PLEASE do the same school year. I want to see Kiana, Aldo, Parker, Mateo, Rahim, Barnstorm, and Elaine (rhymes with pain). I would like the story to take place AFTER Winter Break. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!!! Please do it because I NEED it. Ever since my 5th grade teacher read a few chapters, I have been obsessed with it. PLEASE DO IT!! PLEASE RESPOND TO ME TOO!!!
Please and thank you - Sofia

Thanks for posting. I guess I don't have to ask you what your favorite book is. I'm really pleased that my classroom full of misfits has made such a hit with you. As you might imagine, it was a lot of fun to write, too.
I have no plans for a sequel, but I won't rule one out if I suddenly get a brilliant idea for it. So what I'm offering you is an indefinite maybe. Sorry to be so UNspecific, but at the moment it will have to do.
