               Dear Gordon korman, your books are just about my favorite thing in the entire world! And some of my favorite ones are books that have mythical elements or different phenomena! (Mixed up, Whatshisface, and operation do over.) So I came up with a (Brilliant on my part 😏) Idea! So here goes! So, imagine a middle school kid. Girl or boy. They care for everyone and are obsessed with leaving a smile on everyones face. And after their Thirteenth birthday they start having flashes of a life that definitely isn't theirs.  (Much like Theo and Reef from Mixed up.) And at first they think they're just imagining it. But eventually they realize that those are memories from a past life somehow? And it turns out that they weren't the BEST person in their past life. (Like a really selfish and judgemental person.) And because they are SO obsessed with making everyone happy, they become frantic. Trying to make up for all they've done in that life. 

I feel like this is a really good idea and I hope with all my heart that you see this. I know you might currently be working on a book so I totally understand if you can't do it or just dislike the idea. It took me a lot of courage to share this idea with you and I hope you like it!

I have just been going through my fanmail on the website, and I find that some person has replied to you using my name illegally. I have erased his/her contribution to my website. I am so sorry someone took advantage of your very interesting and well thought-out plot line and replied in my name. It was not me.

Please take care in future dealings online with anyone purporting to be me. I am very sorry that someone has been trifling with you and using my website to do so. I am certainly going to have my Webmaster investigate the person who has done this. It is someone who has copied my letter style, and even the way I sign my emails. It was a very unpleasant thing to have done.

I'm really pleased to hear that you're a fan, Zola. And I'm very sorry that someone has taken advantage of your best intent to describe your plot to me.

Hi again, Zola,

I'm very relieved that everything seems to be OK. I think the offer to send you a book was an attempt to get your address. As it is, you did give that person your email address -- no author, including me, would ask for that, nor offer to send you a book. It proves, to me anyway, that the Internet can be a scary place sometimes, so please be careful! (I've erased your reply that included your email address.)

Your plot! It's a very good one, but probably not for me. It's a little bit like my RESTART, where Chase doesn't recall what a nasty person he was before he loses his memory in the accident. And if it's done like MIXED UP, I find it a little too serious for the way my work has been going lately. (I'm glad you liked MIXED UP, by the way. It was not that well-received generally, which is one of the reasons why I've moved back to the comedy-adventure style I'm usually known for.)

Mixed Up was such a great book! I wonder why it wasn’t that well received

Oh, it did OK, just not up to snuff -- didn't sell as well as some of the others, didn't seem to get as much buzz. Maybe it was the subject matter, or maybe the timing, coming right after a huge hit like THE SUPERTEACHER PROJECT. It has its share of fans, just not as many as some of my other stuff.                                                                                   --GK--
