enthusiastsometimes I catch myself thinking about masterminds, and this singular thought slips into my head "hector and Malik should have been together." I know it's obviously implied that Amber and Malik got together by the end of payback, but I just feel like they both could have had so much chemistry had it become real, to be honest, my class right now is reading masterminds together as a little side unit and everyone likes the idea of hector and Malik being together, some even coming to tears at the mention of the fact that Malik and Amber are together "It should have been hector" "Amber can be alone for all I care", it even got to the point they scribbled "Hectik forever" on the whiteboard.
Funny, no one has erased it yet.

Thanks for posting. I hope MASTERMINDS is going over well with you and the class.
During the writing -- and I planned the whole trilogy before starting the actual writing -- I always meant Amber and Malik to be together. Just from their bickering and one-upmanship I thought it was clear that they were going to be a couple. And I planned the Malik-Hector relatioship to be a big brother vs kid brother type of thing. But never underestimate the power of the reader!
"Hectik forever." It has a nice ring to it, but no. Sorry. -----Gordon Korman-----
