GigiDear Gordon Korman,
I just have to say thank you. I thought I was a bad reader when I was a kid. I read slower than my peers, got distracted while reading most things and started to hate reading. Then, I picked up your series Island randomly one summer in middle school. It was one of the best book series I ever read. I stayed inside a whole day during summer to read it! (Before everyone had the internet). That’s when I realized that I am a good reader. I just needed to find something I liked to read! I read through your whole kidnapped series and on the run series in late middle school/early high school, and I couldn’t get enough of it. Now, I’m in my thirties with my own family working as a middle school teacher. I recently recommended ISLAND to one of my students who struggles with reading and told them how much I loved the series. I have been getting back into reading this summer, and I just finished DIVE and EVEREST. I loved them so much, and they brought me so much joy while reading them. It made me realize how far I have come as a reader because of your books. I just had to say, thank you. Thank you for teaching me that reading is for everyone. Thank you for always reminding me to never give up through your tales of adventure and survival. I can’t tell you how much it’s positively impacted me. I don’t know how to end this, so THANK YOU!
