DarrenFinished Sleepless last night. Entertaining as always. Felt ironic to be reading it every night while a little tired, just before bed.
Gord, can you share anything with us about Barry Pekilis? Sounded like a heartfelt dedication.
Typo, page 159, paragraph 8: "The sleepless hours are our time, when no when [sic] can tell us what to do."
Typo? Page 177, first paragraph: "I've been sleepless so long that I barely remember what's it like." I'm thinking "what it's like" would be more correct here.
I could definitely see how you would have had the premise and even the last line thought out before you embarked on writing this. Good job!

Thanks for the comments on SLEEPLESS, plus the slip-ups from the proofreaders. Glad you enjoyed it. And you are A-one right about the last line. I was writing toward it from the very first page!
Barry was my cousin. We were raised like brothers -- and we were best friends in spite of the fact that he was a little older than me. He was, as I state in the dedication, the original Bruno. He died last year of a debilitating illness that took his life over a period of 10 years. Heartfelt, yes. Very. -Gord

I grew up with a cousin a few years older as well, who shaped my personality in some ways, comedically and musically.
As I've probably mentioned before, a GK adult novel is my holy grail, but failing that another YA novel would be most welcome. While reading Sleepless, for some reason it popped into my head to create mash-ups of your novels and more adult-oriented movies. Sleepless and A Nightmare On Elm Street, as an example. No Coins, Please and Wall Street. Jardine came up with Son Of The Mob and My Cousin Vinny (though I think Goodfellas would work well there).
