[Claire Ricci]

Dear Gordon Korman,

My son Owen Ricci is 11 years old and lives in Greensboro, NC.  You are his favorite author, so when his English teacher assigned a book report in newspaper format on any book we wanted, he chose Restart.  We sent you a copy of the report via snail mail, but then we read that snail mail could take up to two years to reach you!  I wish I could attach the whole newsletter to this message, but that doesn't seem to be an option, so I copied in this excerpt below.  Thank you for writing so many great books that keep my son happily reading!

Sincerely,

Claire Ricci

LETTER TO THE AUTHOR

Dear Gordan Korman,

The book Restart is the best book I have ever read. Every time I read this book, I can’t stop reading it until I’m finished. I have stayed awake hours past my bedtime to read this book, because like I said, once I start, I can’t stop. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, 10/10, A++! There is no way to say how much I enjoy this book, so thank you for writing it.

Your biggest fan,

Owen Ricci

P.S. Please write back.

[Gordon]

Hi, Owen Ricci,

Thanks for your letter. I'm pleased to hear that RESTART made such a hit with you. I hope you'll want to read your way right through my long list -- with the recent publication of SLEEPLESS, it now numbers 108 titles. If you hang on until January 2027, you can add THE FAVORITE to the list and bring it up to 109. And because the first one, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL, was published almost 50 years ago, Scholastic Canada is turning it into a graphic novel to mark the anniversary.

Your Mom says you're my biggest fan, and your letter seems to prove that! Thank you for your support for my work. I hope you'l keep reading my books. Maybe one day you an be reading themto your own kids!

Thanks, Claire, and many thanks to you, Owen!

                                                          Kindest regards,                                         -----Gordon Korman-----

[Kormaniac Daniel]

Mr. Korman, I didn't see it on scholastic or does it have to be Canada's website?

Hi, Daniel,

You mean the graphic novel? They're not quite finished it yet -- there's a ton of work in a graphic novel. But when it's done, I'm sure it will be available in the U.S. too. And if you mean THE FAVORITE, you have to wait until January.
