    Hi,

I read your first novel a long time ago when I was in fifth grade, since I went to school in French in Montreal, it was titled: "Bruno et Boots mènent le bal".  Our teacher had read it to us in class and I saved up to buy my own copy.

It seems that with time, the book got lost.  I really would like my daughter to read it too but I can't seem to be able to buy it anywhere.  Any idea where I could find a copy?

I still say this was the best book I read as a kid...  I just found out you are a prolific and popular writer and it is no surprise to me, I only wish we could read you more in French.

    Thanks

    Hi, Julie,

Thanks for posting. I'm pleased to hear from someone who remembers the French version of my first book.

I don't know if you go back that far -- probably not -- but THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL is approaching its 50th (can you believe it???) birthday. In honor of that date, Scholastic Canada is issuing the book in Graphic Novel format. As for Bruno et Boots Menent le Bal,  I think it may not exist any longer. A lot of my older stuff has gone out of print, and that may well be one of them.

You might inquire with Scholastic Canada --    1-877-340-0552.

Thanks again for your interest and your support!                                          -----Gordon Korman-----

A little bit of information if anyone wants to look for used copies of the Bruno and Boots/Macdonald Hall book(s) in French:

    Here’s the 1983 Scholastic paperback:

    • Bruno et Boots mènent le bal | ISBN 0-590-71182-2 (9780590711821)

When the series was celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2003, Scholastic issued French translations of the first three books. Boots became “Max” in these translations(!). Here they are:

    • Collège Macdonald: Deux farceurs au collège | ISBN 0-439-97437-2 (9780439974370)

    • Collège Macdonald: Méfiez-vous du Poisson! | 0-439-96654-X (9780439966542)

    • Collège Macdonald: Bruno et Max font des vagues | 0-439-97009-1 (9780439970099)

Sometimes searching for the ISBN is more successful than querying by title. Even looking for used books, you may have to keep searching. Eventually, copies will show up!
